Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
The Extended Project Qualification
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is an in-depth study that allows students to develop independent research and critical thinking skills, and showcase abilities to universities and employers through a unique project, with the potential for extra UCAS points. Using the EPQ beyond Sixth Form
The EPQ is an optional part of our curriculum alongside three A Level courses. Many students use the EPQ to ‘test out’ future course ideas, build a specialist portfolio or as a structured outlet to pursue a subject they do not take as an A Level course.
Within school, we support students with EPQ through:
• Taught research and study skills sessions in groups.
• A dedicated supervisor who will monitor and provide advice throughout.
• Access to Project Q, software designed specifically for organising and tracking EPQ work.
The EPQ is completed in Year 12. Students submit their finished projects in Term 5 (after Easter) after presenting their projects to their peers and EPQ supervisors. This year our presentations will be at Broughton Castle.
